Vote: Election Day in Garwood

VOTE!
In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, Garwood residents are off to the polls to elect two council members.

The borough's polling places, the fire house, council chambers and library have electrical service to accommodate voting machines, borough officials say.

Running on the Republican ticket are Timohty Hak and Mike Martin. Running on the Democratic ticket are Anne Palmer and William Nierstedt. The governing body in Garwood is currently split 3 Democrats and 3 Republicans.

DEMOCRATS FOR COUNCIL:
(D) Ann Palmer
(D) William Nierstedt

REPUBLICANS FOR COUNCIL:
(R) Timohty Hak
(R) Mike Martin

Last year Democrats were the big winners in town retaining both their council seats. In 2011 Garwood re-elected Sara Todisco and Louis Petruzzelli. The two beat Republicans challengers Carol Ann Kearney and Steven Blaufeder. 2010 was the year of the Elephant with Republicans sweeping the Mayor's office and two council seats.

This year voters will also pick county and state leaders, along with congressional representation and of course the President.

Polls opened at 6am and close at 8pm. If you have trouble voting or have questions contact the Union County Board of Elections at 908-527-4121.
