Center Street to Rock in June, Grandma Clown Course & More from Garwood

Garwood Rocks! And come June, it will have a street fair to call its own.

The aptly-named Garwood Rocks Street Fair will feature food, music, a car show, shopping and other family activities on June 8th (rain or shine) from 10am until 5pm. The event, organized by the Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce, will take place in the heart of Downtown, Garwood on Center Street.

Organizers are billing the event as New Jersey’s most exciting car show and live music outdoor festival. However, as of this writing the promotional website www.garwoodrocks.com is still "under construction." Better get that up and running soon! Organizers are also prompting people to follow hashtag #GarwoodRocks on Twitter.

Barry Lubin, Garwood's famous Grandma, who was recently inducted into the International Clown Hall of Fame is scheduled to hold a workshop for children and adults at The Trapeze Arts and Circus School in Oakland in April, according to a published report out west. Attendees will learn tricks from Grandma about how to engage the audience, keep their interest and elicit their participation, the report says. Grandma called Garwood home for many years.

And, despite few updates, the Garwood Facebook page is now up to 1,263 Likes. The borough page was launched on October 29, 2009, a few months after Garwood 365 published its first article.
