Information on Garwood’s ‘Opt-In’ Bulk Garbage Pickup Coming Soon

Opt-In
Are you in? The Borough of Garwood is moving forward with plans to offer residents bulk garbage pickup through an “opt-in” policy. The move comes after a similar pilot was tested last summer. The opt-in pickup would cost residents approximately $125, according to a report in the Clark-Garwood Patch. The pickup has been tentatively set for September. Residents are expected to get more information by mail. Garwood’s bulk garbage pick-up pilot got good marks from 365 readers. In an online poll 47% of readers said they thought the pilot was a success. 15% said it should be dumped. And 36% said they did not take part. About 100 votes were cast.

Free bulk garbage pickup was cancelled in 2010 because of budget cuts.

After being elected in 2010 Mayor Patricia Quattrochi made reinstating bulk garbage pickup a priority of her administration.
