New Chief Takes the Reigns at Police Headquarters

Garwood P.D
A Garwood Council committee has chosen the next top-cop to run the borough's small police force. The governing body chose longtime Garwood Police Lieutenant Bruce Underhill. Underhill will replace retiring Chief William Legg. The entire council will vote on Underhill's appointment in June. If confirmed he's expected to be sworn in at a June 28th meeting.

GOOD LUCK CHIEF!

  1. Hello, one correction to this story. Lt. Bruce Underhill has not been selected by the governing body as the next Police Chief for Garwood. Rather, he was recommended for the position by a Police Chief Search Committee consisting of the Mayor and two Boro Councilmen. The governing body as a whole will be asked to vote on this appointment at the June 14th or June 28th Council meetings.

    Sincerely,

    James A. Mathieu (R)
    Councilman, Borough of Garwood
