Multi-family homes to be rezoned as single-family in Garwood

GARWOOD — Borough Council members will direct the Planning Board to rezone several multi-family dwellings as single-family homes, after consulting with Jason Kasler, a professional planner in charge of writing Garwood’s Master Plan.
The decision was made at the Borough Council meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 24. Officials said most of the affected properties have been two-family since 1923. Borough Administrator/Clerk Christina M. Ariemma said the change “is expected to take several months to a year.”
Once the re-designations are complete, residents who live in a zone that is currently multi-family have a year to get a certificate of non-conformity to keep their status...
