Another One Bites the Dust

Remember when Blockbuster Video was a giant—moving into neighborhoods closing down local video stores for miles. Well, now it’s the giant’s turn.

Across the country Blockbusters have been shutting down in record numbers, and that’s the same fate awaiting Garwood’s local Blockbuster (in fan-favorite Cranford of course). The South Avenue Blockbuster has fallen victim to those 1-dollar movie rental machines outside of grocery stores, and the simple on-demand feature available on cable. Not to mention, with the advent of DVDs, the loss of all those annoying “rewind” fees.

Blockbuster’s last day in the neighborhood is Saturday- feel free to stop by and pay your final respects.
