View: If Garwood is Good Enough to Park, It's Good Enough to Stop

Transit officials believe Garwood is a fine place to park trains if another Sandy-like monster storm comes knocking. And while improvements have bee made to 'harbor' dozens of trains in the borough, stopping and picking up more passengers still remains an elusive reality to Garwood commuters.

In the event of storm like Hurricane Sandy, NJ Transit has upgraded its rail yard in the borough, according to a report in the Star Ledger earlier this summer. Along with the Garwood site, and a rail yard in Linden, NJT can store 450 trains, the report says.

Now if only they would make station improvements with as much earnest. Let's move rapidly on that too.
