Hurricane Sandy Cost Garwood Thousands, Feds to Repay

Hurricane Sandy cost the borough $75,000, with about $40,000 associated with tree and debris removal according to a report in the Westfield Leader. A special emergency apporpiration was approved to fund the costs the borough incurred. The borough expects to be reimbursed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the report says.

Trees fell in many sections of town including on Center Street, West Street and Union Street.
Damage was also reported at borough hall and at Washington School and other locations.
