Check Out Hunger Returns to Garwood Library

Help out!
The borough's free public library is pitching-in to help again this holiday season. The annual 'Check Out Hunger' food drive has returned. Now through December 17 you can bring various non-perishable food items to the facility to aid in the effort. Collection bins will be conveniently located at the public libraries and library staff will then route 100% of the donations to designated food banks, organizers say. The Garwood Library is also collecting food for pets as well.

Library staff say during these tough economic times, many people in New Jersey have been left behind; low income families; struggling single parents; the elderly on a fixed income; the unemployed. The recent super storm Sandy has added many more people to the list of New Jersey’s neediest this season. Groceries most urgently needed are canned meat and fish; canned soups and stews; peanut butter (in plastic jars); boxed pasta and rice; powdered milk; infant formula; canned vegetables and fruits, organizers stress.
