Garwood's Athletic Field Complex Moves Closer to Reality

FUTURE AFC SITE
Another council meeting and another step is taken to build a state-of-the-art facility at the Little League Field. A standing-room-only crowd turned out at Borough Hall Tuesday night as the council voted five to one to approve a bond ordinance that will provide funding for the borough’s long-planned Athletic Field Complex, according to the Clark-Garwood Patch.

The vote comes just weeks after the increasingly pricey project appeared all but stalled. According to officials the price tag for the site is now topping $3.2 million dollars. Despite the spike in cost, the Mayor of Garwood and a majority of councilmembers continue to back the project.

For years, Garwood has been inching ever closer to realizing grand plans for the future athletic complex at the Little League Field. The massive overhaul of the site is expected to include dozens of new amenities. Supporters say the site will add value to the town, others says it's simply too expensive for borough taxpayers.
