Library: Holiday Cards for Heroes

The Garwood Library has organized a craft event that will not only entertain the kids, but, also hammer home an important message. The library will allow 25 kids to design, write, and mail cards to service men and women stationed overseas.

The message to kids: our soldiers perform a critical service for the nation, and it's important to thank them, especially while they serve during the holiday season.

The event starts at 3:15p, Friday.

  1. Thanks to Garwood 365 for spreading the word about Garwood Public Library's "Holiday Mail for Heroes" event. 15 youngsters participated in making 40 cards for Servicemen and women. In addition, the children helped to create 75 tree ornaments which will be given to the "Trees for Troops" project being sponsored by Williams Nursery this weekend.(Dec. 4th-6th)
From the sentiments expressed in the cards, I do believe the youngsters gained an appreciation of the sacrifices the troops are making to preserve our freedom.
