Poll: Nope

In response to a local neighborhood grocery store in Michigan which had gained national attention for banning cigarettes, 365 asked: Would a self imposed cigarette ban work in Garwood? Would it make a difference in smoking rates, or in setting an example for other stores? Well, 77% of readers answered NO -- it wouldn't help or change habits. While 22% said it would help.

The question also got some comments. One comment pointed out a ban would never work here because it is so easy to just go to the next town or next store. And two other comments pointed out in America we have free will-- and while they had no problem with the owner in Michigan banning cigarettes, they said they would have a problem if someone imposed a rule on the stores.
