GARWOOD — Agreeing that senior housing is an inherently beneficial use, the borough Planning Board has approved a use variance for a 72-unit project at the site of the former St. Anne’s School.
In a 6 to 1 vote on Wednesday, July 28, the Planning Board — acting as the borough’s Board of Adjustment — agreed to the use variance requested by the Westfield Senior Citizens Housing Corporation to build an independent senior housing complex at the site. The board also agreed unanimously to bifurcate the application, holding off on approving the site plan until the Sept. 15 meeting.
