Garwood Residents Donated 1.6 Million to Charity

Big hearted Garwood!
It may be a small town, but, time and again, Garwood proves it has a big heart. According to a new report by the Chronicle of Philanthropy borough residents coughed up nearly 4% of their annual income to charity, totaling $1.6 million. Garwood also helped Union rank high among counties in the state, and the nation. The report was based on 2008 IRS tax records, the most recent year data was available.
The median contribution for Garwood residents was $1,881, the median discretionary income for borough residents is $52,707, the report says.
