There are some dark clouds on the horizon and it couldn't be coming at a worse time for the borough of Garwood. Just as officials are laying the groundwork to start construction on one of the largest public works projects in the town's history (the AFC), the borough is facing a probable loss of tax income to its coffers. According to the borough attorney there are 10 "significant" commercial properties who have appealed their property taxes. Even worse, according to the borough, each appeal could cost the borough upwards of $3,000, according to a report in the
Westfield Leader.
Home Depot and the Lofts are two of the "significant" property owners, the report says.
