Bulk Garbage Eliminated in Garwood 1 Year Ago
Its still a heated issue in the borough: the elimination of bulk garbage pickup. It was 1 year ago that Garwood nixed the free pickups for larger, un-bagged items. Last year town residents received a revised garbage pickup schedule by mail. The cuts were blamed on state aid budget actions directed by Governor Chris Christie. Since then, many borough residents have fought feverishly to have the service restored. While others say it was a prudent cost cutting measure.
