GARWOOD — Plans were revealed for accommodating pre-kindergarten through eighth grade classes in Lincoln School for 2010-11 school year at Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting.
The pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classes are relocating to Lincoln School from Washington School because Washington will be closed next year because of budget cuts. Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten will occupy four classrooms; to accommodate the extra classes, Superintendent Dr. Teresa Quigley outlined a plan that will reorganize the usual placement of classes on all three floors of Lincoln — the basement, first floor and second floor. Class sizes will not be increased.
The pre-kindergarten and kindergarten will be on the first floor along Walnut Avenue. First graders will be moved upstairs to the third floor, along with the second through the fifth grades. The sixth through the eighth grade classes will be on both floors.
