Garwood's Supermarket Superiority Challenged in Westfield

Everyone in Central Union County (especially in Cranford and Westfield) knows that Garwood is the un-official bread basket of the area (home to the Big 3: ShopRite, Pathmark and Kings), supplying residents with more local options for supermarkets than any other town.
But, if Stop and Shop gets its way Garwood's undisputed title will be called into question. According to front page news in the venerable Westfield Leader, there are plans to expand the square footage of supermarket space in Downtown Westfield, an area already popular because of Trader Joe's.
