Making Garwood Proud! |
Not every borough kid was taking time-off from educational pursuits during the Summer of 2012. In fact, 33 participated in Garwood’s 18th Annual Summer Reading Club. This year’s theme was “Dream Big,” according to library staff. The kids, grades pre-k through 8th read a total of 39,896 minutes this summer. The top three readers alone logged, 5,679 minutes, 3,535 minutes, and 2,583 minutes respectively. The closing ceremony was held in August and many went home with small tokens of recognition- including a certificate, bookmarks, pencils and gift cards for Applebee’s, Chili’s, and Barnes and Noble.
One parent who took part, and emailed 365, said, “I just wanted to let you know how proud we all were that day at the library, something else good about this town.”
