Garwood's Neighbors Announce Drunk Driving Crackdown

There's no way to get to Garwood unless you drive through either Cranford or Westfield. And if you're driving after having a few drinks you may get snared in a drunk driving check-point. From August 20 through September 6, both departments have announced they are taking part in the Summer 2010 "Over the Limit, Under Arrest" campaign, according to the New Jersey Attorney General's Office.

Both the Westfield and Cranford Police Departments received a $4,400 grant from the Division of Highway Traffic Safety for the overtime costs associated with the two-week blitz.

Garwood did not receive a state grant to take part in the program, according to an Attorney General fact sheet and state database. 11 Union County towns are taking part.
